Community Testimonials
Dugan Foundation
Pierce County Community Newspaper Group’s support of the Dugan Foundation, most notably in its Tacoma Weekly publication, can best be described in the words of Jim Dugan, president and founder of the Dugan Foundation:
"The Dugan Foundation was created to bring an end to the killing of homeless shelter animals as a form of population control and to do so by developing our community into a sustainable, no-kill companion animal community. Reaching our community in a thoughtful, respectful, consistent manner was and remains critical path to achieve our goals. Without the ability to fund such a service, we looked for a strategic partner that believed in our values and goals and our ability to achieve those goals and would provide such a service at no cost to the Foundation. We found such a partner in the Tacoma Weekly.
Whether it be the accurate reporting of one or more of our activities, or the gift-in-kind services of graphic design and advertisement space in support of any one of our events and/or programs, the Tacoma Weekly has made it possible for the Dugan Foundation to reach it's community and in doing so, has become a critical path strategic partner to our organization. As a result, we have reached more people more often in the past six months than we have in the past three years.
We believe information is the key to awareness, that awareness is the first step to action, and that action will effect change and shape the future. We believe such action is only possible by working with like minded organizations that themselves believe such a better future is possible and a result of what we do together today. The Tacoma Weekly believes in our community, they believe in giving back to our community and one way they are doing that is by supporting the Dugan Foundation. We are extremely grateful and honored to be in the company of such a community leader and to be graced by such a philanthropic gift from the heart."
